Coaches are for athletes, right?
Not anymore. Health coaches are a new breed, and our mission is to help you become your healthiest self.
Why do people need health coaches?
Well, when you consider that the leading causes of disease in the U.S. are lifestyle choices, it’s clear lots of us could use some help in the healthy decision making process.
According to the CDC: “Chronic diseases and conditions—such as heart disease, stroke, cancer, diabetes, obesity, and arthritis—are among the most common, costly, and preventable of all health problems.”
From the Cleveland Clinic: “Poor lifestyle choices, such as smoking, overuse of alcohol, poor diet, lack of physical activity and inadequate relief of chronic stress are key contributors in the development and progression of preventable chronic diseases, including obesity, type 2 diabetes mellitus, hypertension, cardiovascular disease and several types of cancer.”
That all sounds pretty bad, but the thing about choices is that you can always change your mind. OK, so you drank a six-pack of soda a day for the last decade? That doesn’t mean you have to do that again today.
Making a different, healthier choice requires a commitment to change, and change can be hard. That’s where a coach can help. A health coach can support your shift to healthier habits, helping you set and reach goals toward living a healthier life.
A partnership with a health coach can provide the foundation you need to understand how your choices affect your body, mind, and overall health. This understanding is key to lasting change, and it just might prevent you from becoming a CDC statistic.
